Genus HR is an independent HR Consultancy providing HR Business Partner support online and in-person for small to medium size businesses. We work across both the public and private sector and have experience across multiple industries providing support to businesses in delivering HR solutions.

Small family business and required an independent consultant to hear the disciplinary appeal and review the investigation and disciplinary findings. Genus HR provided on-site support to hear the appeal and analyse the findings and produce a report to the Managing Director with finding and recommendations to consider for the MD's final decision with regards to an appeal. Benefits: independent and fair analysis in particular for a small family business.
Leading the HR Partner support for the Franchisee. This included end to end TUPE support - from the initial negotiation with the Franchisor, to analysing due diligence and employment legal, comparator of T&C's, risk assessments for the business, creating measures, full on site support at TUPE collective consultations and individual 1:1 consultations, all business data in relation to presentations, consultation notes, letters and correspondence with employees, welcome letters, pension set -up. Day 1 transfer on site support and follow through on case by case basis. Outcomes: positive TUPE process for the Franchisee and employees, and supported the Franchisee with several more TUPE growth opportunities.
A local government body required intense and specific project support for a period of 3 months - onsite working with the leadership team. A truly rewarding project for the client focussing on business development work including a structural review of a service with proposals of operating model with cost analysis. Reviewing gaps and implementing 'quick wins' such as managers standards and expectations, behaviours at work. Coaching the managers on the delivery of complex people management scenarios within the realms of performance reviews, return to works and building confidence in effectively executing the role of a manager of people. A huge success for the client.
Genus HR is dedicated to my mother as I owe my drive to achieve to her. My world was turned upside down when she died, I was just eight years old.
You could say I had no choice but to grow up, faced with the fact that nothing I did was going to bring her back, but in reality, I wanted to take control and get back some power in my life. The loss left me with a drive to achieve, to be successful and to make my mother proud. I knew I was going to have to work hard, to take care of myself, to succeed. The experience shaped my inner core, giving me hunger and drive to be successful no matter what.
That drive helped me through school and university, landing me a solid job as a young graduate and kick starting my journey in HR.
My career has been hugely exciting, I’ve been privileged to hold some coveted roles, and work on challenging projects with some really successful businesses and organisations. My experiences led me to discover my true passion for working with people and supporting them through progressive and challenging times, but I was always looking for more.
After years working so hard to achieve, my successes in life became like stepping stones and deep down I knew I was ready to leap. I realised then that I am not far away from the young age my mother was when she died, and actually I have still so much to give. It was a now or never moment.
For me, the next step was clear. Owning and running a successful business was the ultimate goal, the level of growth that I need to fulfil. I discovered there was a gap in the market for hands on HR partner support. I knew my skill set would fit perfectly and allow me to be the go-to, to use my skills and experience to support businesses through some of their toughest times.
I prioritised my family (my fantastic husband and 3 beautiful children), my home and my work throughout my life, never losing sight of my ambition and drive to achieve. I really believe it is because of this inner strength and determination that I’ve been able to achieve so much. Yes, you might say I experienced a trauma, but one that has made me who I am, a strong leader.
Genus is Latin for ‘family’. You will see why the company name reflects my origin.
Since launching Genus HR, I’ve been able to support people in making their businesses a success and achieving their goals - I think there’s something quite satisfying about that.
